The Banana Spider is also called Golden Silk Spider - Nephila
clavipes. It is not related to the very venomous
Wandering Spiders from South America which are
also referred to as the Banana Spider. These spider are often
abundant in the summer months though the spider population seem vary every year.
The females are much larger than the males and are usually the one noticed.
Although it is one of the largest web weaving spiders of North America, the
Banana Spider is only mildly venomous.
